Influenza - prevent a bad disease with a good vaccine!
Vaccination Programs in Schools
When influenza affects children in schools, it can spread quickly to other school children, teachers, family members, and the community. School children typically have the highest annual attack rates for influenza. And, along with working adults, they are major spreaders of influenza in the community.
The "Say NOse to Flu" Vaccination Tool Kit [PDF] This kit was developed by MedImmune, the sole manufacturer of the intranasal influenza vaccine. It currently has four components to help begin planning a school-wide influenza vaccination program. The four components include an example of a letter to the principal, a presentation on the importance of vaccination against influenza, implementation guidelines, and an order form for materials. A larger toolkit will be available soon.
